Real Krill comes from a shrimp-like crustacean that feeds on algae in the cold waters of the Antarctic. Authentic Krill oil complex is different from fish oils in that it has a wider range of nutrients and hence benefits. Many of the DHA and EPA essential fatty acids are linked into longer phospholipid molecules that closely mimic the lipid components of the cell membrane. Fish oil DHA and EPA come in the form of triglycerides which actually is a storage form of fatty acid. The storage form of fatty acids have to be processed and reconstructed into phospholipid form and them become part of the cell membrane. Krill oil gets its red color from the powerful antioxidant astaxanthin which is a member of the carotenoids. This antioxidant helps to keep the Krill Oil stable and have a longer shelf life. In other words, fish oils lack astaxanthin and therefore can become rancid quicker. Vanillin has been added to Real Krill to give it a nice vanilla flavor.
